Kathy and Joe enjoyed a day with us tackling smallmouth. Many thanks to Kennebec River Outfitters for putting the trip together. Both caught a trophy bass and even better, they released them to fight again. Chris

We took Jim into the gorge on Tuesday morning, the fishing was a bit slower than usual...so we changed things up in the afternoon and headed to the lower kennebec, our backyard, to do a bit of bass fishing. The fishing got better and better as we moved down stream. Around 3 pm or so, Jim landed this nice looking 17 1/2" smallmouth. Great job! Hope to see you again next year.

Salmon in the Gorge

Blog Showcase Image:

Jim from Mass joined us on Tuesday, thanks to our friends at Kennebec river outfitters for booking the trip. Jim and I hit the Kennebec river gorge early ready to get right into some salmon and brook trout. The fishing turned out to be a bit slow, heavy rain during the night and warm water temps may have been a factor. We did manage to catch this nice salmon and lost a couple others.
We had our famous riverside lunch on pebble beach and headed toward the lower river for the afternoon, more on that, next post

Kennebec River Fishing Update

Blog Showcase Image:

As you can tell, we've been pretty busy hosting all sorts of fishing trips this month. Full day bass trips, fly fishing in the gorge and the 'trip of the month', the half-day bass fishing have all been producing very well. All guests are catching multiple fish, and no one is getting skunked. We've hosted groups from Texas, New York, Florida, Mass, Vermont, Italy and Quebec this month, making us an international company. ;) It's been fun having so many kids catching fish with us. We can only hope to get them hooked on fishing and keep them outside and active. Here's a few photos of recent young guests and their fish.

Back for another year, mother and son catching smallies on the kennebec

The Kennebec river is still fishing extremly well for smallmouth bass. Sean, a return angler, who came up with his father last year came back this year with even more of the family. Sean, his father Howard, his mom and sister all stayed with Northern Outdoors for a couple days and booked our famous 1/2 day bass fishing trip. Right out of the gate, second cast, we had our first fish on. It was all good after that, catching more than enough fish to keep us busy all afternoon. A great family activity! Thanks for coming back, we hope to see you next time you need a little R&R

Howard and his family joined us yesterday on the river for a 1/2 day smallmouth trip. They booked the trip for 4 people and stayed at Northern Outdoors for a couple nights of relaxing in the great north woods. As usual we caught a bunch of fish and had a great time in the process. Thanks for coming and we hope to see you again.

Salmon fishing in August

Blog Showcase Image:

Had another great day in the Kennebec River Gorge on the 24th. Our friends at Kennebec River Outfitters booked the trip which brought "Creature" and his wife up to the kennebec river valley from North Carolina. Steve, AKA "Creature" is a fishing guide out of Hatteras, NC, He decided to take a break from fishing in the salt water and try some fly fishing in the Gorge. We did pretty well for a 80' day in August, landing seval nice salmon. We hope to see "creature" back next year...thanks for fishing with us.
